Laundering

The covert manipulation of money often obtained in a wrongful manner, for example theft, drug trading or gambling, so as to seem to have originated from a lawful source. An example is to pass the unlawful money through a chain of overseas banks and subsequently transfer it back to the country where it will be spent.
